I Need a Drink… of Water!

pexels-photo-416528Water is essential for living. It is important for cooking, cleaning, proper hygiene, and the environment. Water is also very important to stay healthy. Water is a chemical compound of two Hydrogen molecules bounded to an Oxygen molecule (I’m a scientist).   This incredible compound, water, keeps the body working and is needed for hydration, immune health, and waste removal from the body.

Fun fact! Did you know that the body is made up of 70% of Water?

Water is used to help remove toxins from the body. When you do not drink enough water, your kidneys work twice as hard to remove toxins and waste from your body.  You might suffer from a headache or you might feel fatigued when you do not drink enough water. This is a sign from your body telling you that it NEEDS water!

The Center for Disease Control, recommends that you should drink at least 8 eight fluid ounces of water a day.  they recommend people to drink less sweetened drinks and more plain H20 (water). When you drink more water, you consume fewer calories which can help you to lose weight. Drinking water also helps you to stay well or it can help you get better when you’re sick. Water help’s flush out pathogens and bacteria ( aka germs) that can be found in the body when you are sick which helps you to get better!

If you are like me and do not like plain water all the time, here are some ways to make your water fancy and fun.

  1. Lemon water.  Adding lemon to your water is basically lemonade. It tastes great andmineral-water-lime-ice-mint-158821 can help boost your metabolism.
  2. Cucumber, lemon, and mint water.  This is a fun tasty water that is amazing.
  3. Adding fruit to your water. I love to make watermelon water with some lemon and it tastes great and is so refreshing.
