Reevaluate the Dream

Hi everyone! Welcome back! This year, I decided that I wanted a mantra for the year. I needed something that I could read that would help me get through the rough times. The quote, “you always pass failure on your way to success,” has been so motivational to me recently and is my mantra for 2020.

Have you ever felt like quitting when pursuing your dreams or your goals? Have you ever felt as though you ‘failed’ and just wanted to be an average Joe or Jill? If you answered any of the questions yes then I feel your pain. I FEEL YOU! I had so many goals in 2019, did I complete any of them? NO!

I felt so unsuccessful but then I read that quote. I realized that its okay to fail. It’s okay to feel unsuccessful, it’s okay! What matters is what you decided to do after you ‘failed’ or was unsuccessful. What did I do? Great question! First I held a pity party, then I reevaluated my goals and dreams. I asked myself hard questions like why was I pursuing this goal or dream, would I be truly happy if I reached that goal or dream, was I willing to put in the work to reach that goal/dream, and more questions like this. After I had answered them, I spent time truly learning my passions, the things that I truly love doing, and who I really was.

After I relearned myself, I assessed the goals/dreams that I thought I failed. Under the old mindset, I had failed the goals and dreams but with my new mindset I realized I hadn’t failed, I had grown. When you think you failed, take a moment and reevaluate your goals and dreams. After that evaluation of yourself, you might learn that you have outgrown your dream and have new ones. Or you might have forgotten why you were pursuing and now you are committed to reaching that dream/goal.

Lastly, remember that when pursuing something that you might not be successful right away. There will be times that you will feel like you failed, however, failure is part of success. Take a moment or a week or a year and truly learn why you failed and relearn yourself, then pursue that goal/dream. Or pursue that NEW goal or dream that came from you learning yourself. Have fun! You got this! Remember its okay to take time to reevaluate yourself, your dream or goal! Till next time!
