Hey everybody! Life is filled with a lot of trials and tribulations and sometimes can be hard. Trust me, I know. I spent the last year trying to heal and move on from all the trials I have experienced and it wasn’t easy. What made it difficult was overcoming my fear of pain. I was scared of failing or worse being hurt again which kept me from moving forward. I know that some of you probably have felt this fear or you’re living in it now. So how did I overcome this fear? How do I start to move in faith instead of walking in fear? Glad you ask!
This verse, Joshua 1:9 is a promise and a guide for overcoming fear. Joshua 1:9 promises that God will be with us. God will be with us as we move forward in life and we should not be afraid or fearful. I love this verse because it reminds me there is still life after the pain, after the failure and no matter what God is with me. God promise, Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, because I (God) will be with you.
When you decide to move in faith rather than fear, it is starting a new chapter in life. It’s a new chapter because you are not trusting yourself but you are trusting in God. I know that it is hard to move in faith after experiencing pain but God promises that He will be with you wherever you go. Don’t allow fear to hold you back from completing the dream that God has given you. When you feel as though you are walking in fear, claim the following promises that help’s to grow faith.
- ” But now, this is what the Lord says, ‘He who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.'” – Isaiah 43:1
- ” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ” – Proverbs 3: 5-6
- “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17: 7-8
- “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27
When you feel as though you can’t move forward in life because of fear, remember that God is with you. Trust His word. Talk to God, surrender your plans to Him and then walk in faith, believing that God is with you! Till next time!
