To the guy who makes me smile,
Anytime that I think about you, I smile. Someone could just mention your name and I smile. It is funny how much of an effect that you have on me. There are times when I am just down but you know how to lift my spirit’s up. You know how to say the perfect something when I am upset and how to comfort me when I’m sad. Whenever I need something, you always know how to provide it. I love it when you just decide to give me gifts, they make me smile even harder. Our late night and early morning conversations always bring a smile to my face. When I get to spend time with you I smile too.
I remember when we met. I wasn’t looking for you in any way, to be honest, I didn’t want you. I had known about you for a long time and didn’t care that much for you. I just accepted that you were someone who happened to be in my life. However, we started to talk and life changed. Our conversations back then were priceless; you would tell me about your job, your life, and your family. At first, I was scared to share but after you shared your story and showed me the scars from it, I felt that it was okay to open up. I remember the first time I broke down, you were there with your loving arms, holding me and telling me that everything would be okay. Then came that time when I just fell apart. I honestly thought that I would never get through it. Again you were there and promised me that everything would be alright.
You make me smile because of the love that you have for me. You love me so much that it does not make sense. Whenever I read the little notes that you send me, they bring tears to my eyes. You always tell me to trust you, that you have plans for us. When we talk, you want me to tell you everything that burdens or stresses me. You promise that even though there are hundreds of miles between us that you will never leave me or forsake me. When I am sad, you tell me that it is okay to mourn and that joy will come in the morning. I love that you keep calling me and texting me to make sure that I am okay. I cannot wait until our weekly date; it is when we are on these dates that I get to know you better.
To the guy who makes me smile, thank you for loving me. Thank you for chasing after me. Thank you for giving up everything just for me. I understand what your dad meant when He said, “this is my son, in whom I am well pleased.” You are an incredible man. I am so grateful that you thought that I was worth your time and love. I can honestly say that getting to know you better over the last few years has been amazing. I don’t know where I would be today if I hadn’t said yes to this relationship. Jesus, I can’t wait to see you when you come back and take me to be with you forever.
